Kathleen Stevens is a passionate abstract artist whose vibrant works reflect a life shaped by culture, movement, and deep connection to the natural world. Born and raised in South Africa, Kathleen grew up surrounded by vivid landscapes and the richness of multicultural life—elements that would later become central themes in her art.
A Cross-Cultural Journey
At the age of 18, she became a French citizen and immersed herself in the traditions, history, and aesthetic spirit of France. This pivotal move expanded her artistic horizons and introduced new layers of inspiration and technique. Two decades later, she returned to South Africa at 38, reconnecting with the raw beauty of her homeland and deepening the emotional resonance of her work.
Finding Home in the Ardèche...
Since 2020, Kathleen has made her home in the Ardèche region of southern France. Now based in Bourg-Saint-Andéol, she draws daily inspiration from the region’s rolling hills, ancient stone villages, and tranquil natural surroundings. Her studio is a haven of creativity where brushstrokes flow freely, blending memory, movement, and meaning.

Kathleen’s work is rooted in abstraction—bold colors, layered textures, and recurring motifs like circles, organic shapes, and symbolic patterns. Floral forms and earthy tones often surface in her paintings, evoking nature while inviting personal interpretation.
